So Much Information And So Little Time!

I have been working on my wiki page and my blog. I read several student's blogs and commented on some of them. Then I found some quotes and songs I liked and got all ADHD. Once I start working on the computer it becomes so hard for me to work on one project at a time. I start on one site - skip to the next - think about something else and search for it - want to listen to some music - and finally go back where I began. This keeps it from getting boring, but makes it hard to concentrate as well. It is no wonder that children that grew up with the internet don't feel like reading text books and just being lectured. The internet and technology will give them a choice of how much and how fast they learn. They will be in control, but we will have to guide them.
Welcome to the future of learning!

A Learning Experience!

My most exciting and extreme learning experience was out of school and out of country. I went on a class trip to the southern part of France where I had to speak French "to survive". My teacher at the time did refuse to do any talking for us and just let us experiment. I learned by trying, failing, and trying again, and I learned because I wanted to. I chose to go on the trip because I already knew that I learn best when I speak and am immersed in the language. That was the best experience because I learned about myself and my abilities.

A similar thing is happening here this weekend. We are being immersed in a topic and we are learning on our own and with each other. It doesn't seem like my brain will hold all this information, but I think we all will be surprised on how much we will take away from this. I think we were given all the tools and resources to succeed.

Some of my interests!

I like learning about things that are unusual and a little crazy or weird. I picked the blog Mr. Branwellington because it has some cool youtube videos on it, and it is very diverse and creative. The other blog The Green Theme is more informative and useful and reminds me of the research part of Globaloria. Now I have some entertainment and some information. Do you like my choices?

Playing to learn

We played games to learn today: The two games I played were The Cost of Life and Image Detective. Both of the games are games that take time to play and understand so even if the player is not learning about a specific topic, they will still learn something about problem solving and planning. The Image Detective game is easier to play because you can't really win or lose, you just take your best informed guess. The Cost of Life was harder, because the game characters actually die if they are not kept healthy, educated, with enough money and shelter. Both games are educational and entertaining.
